A Hole In My Heart Ministry ~ Offering comfort and healing after the loss of a child

Published: 10/04/2009 by Staff Articles

“A Hole in My Heart” ministries is a support group for bereaved mothers to come for comfort and understanding. Using God’s word and deed, their mission is to open the door to healing the broken heart of mothers whose child or children have passed on before them. They serve mothers of all ages who have experienced the loss of their child from any cause or age.

Autumn Ater knew this loss personally. Robert was her happy, beautiful little boy…however on April 22, 2006, after many surgeries and illnesses, he passed away from complications of his many disabilities. Shortly afterwards, God planted a very special seed to start this ministry.

Grief from death is a powerful emotion that none can escape. We will all have to deal with the loss of a loved one at one point or another during our lifetime, but to a mother who has suffered the loss of her child or children, this grief can become overwhelming and consuming.

Being a bereaved mother is no easy task, but Autumn and her team know God is a loving and kind God who meets their every need. With other mothers to share with, “A Hole in My Heart” offers a safe and cozy place where women are free to discuss the memories of their children without hesitation. A place to laugh, cry, pray together and feel a connection that only another mother who wears those shoes can relate to, and where they are reminded that death to a Christian is life eternal through Jesus Christ, their Lord and Savior.

The website for A Hole In My Heart is: www.aholeinmyheart.com and Autumn encourages any bereaved mother to go to the site and find hope and inspiration from another who is right there beside her….walking in those same old grief shoes, searching for anyone who will acknowledge her pain. She also encourages the non-bereaved to seek out the site for information about this ministry and how to help.

This group meets the second Thursday of each month, at Community Baptist Church in Weatherford, TX. However, after January 2010, they will be adding 2 new additional meeting locations in both Irving and West Fort Worth. Through these monthly meetings & newsletters, annual Butterfly releases, special guest appearances and events including Women of Faith speakers, authors and accomplished musicians and so much more, they are able to reach mothers locally, nationally and internationally.

A new offering within their ministry is “The Fountain of Tears”, a beautiful fountain located in beautiful Clark Gardens, being designed and sculpted as a landmark and a memorial to all children who have passed. A lovely prayer walk will lead to the fountain paying tribute with the engraving of a child’s name.

If you know of a mother who has suffered the devastating loss of a child, A Hole in My Heart Ministry seeks to help those whose hearts are broken. If you would like more information, or would like to sponsor to any of their missions, please contact them at the information below.
